WE'D LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YOU AND POPPY AND SOMEDAY?
I am Kari Jansen, founder of Poppy and Someday. My studies have been deep into Ayurveda & Western Herbalism. That is where Poppy and Someday’s formulas stem from. Gardening, wild harvesting, hand making and herbal solar infusions are incorporated into each product. The energy of the plants, nature, sun, and moon cycles all have a play in each product as well. My focus is using products as medicine so we can begin to find the balance within each of us.
your studio is based in laurel canyon, tell us more about the area?
Laurel Canyon is nested up into a magical hillside in the middle of Los Angeles. It is so quiet except the sounds of birds, wind and hillside animals - what a perfect place to create each product. All the combinations are made in small batches infused with ritual. And every time you use an Oil, Salve, or Mist it will hold the energy of this magical oasis here in Laurel Canyon. Where these canyons are filled history of music AND art. It brings out more creative flow, which inspires the process.
YOUR SPACE IS SO BEAUTIFUL, ONE DAY I HOPE I CAN VISIT. CAN YOU TELL US MORE ABOUT THE TREATMENTS YOU OFFER?
Thank you. It is a magical space. We have an outside garden spa connected by french doors that lead into the treatment room. It is surrounded by herbs, plants, fountains and birds. The garden spa has a claw foot tub, herbal steam room and infrared sauna. It’s the perfect setting to allow your treatment to soak in. The treatments are all based in Ayurvedic traditions. The combo of herbal infused oils and steam help to detox the body of toxins. One of the most popular treatments, a Shirodhara, helps to reset your Endocrine system and calms your nerves by taking you deeply into a meditative state.
